The UK’s Top Three Destinations for Christmas Shopping

Christmas markets are a beautiful tradition in the UK, and there are some wonderful examples to be enjoyed all across the country. No matter whether you’re taking a weekend break in the West Country, or even travelling up to a luxury hotel Edinburgh, be sure to check out the nearby markets over the festive season. Here are three of the finest examples on offer, in no particular order:

1. Harrogate

Harrogate is a small town, known historically for its spas and natural spring water. Each Christmas though, this market town erupts into a display of colour with one of the country’s finest Christmas markets. The goods on offer range from handmade clothes to children’s toys, with a large emphasis on tradition and unique design. Other attractions include a wide range of food stalls, and traditional song and dance performances.

2. Welbeck

This small Nottinghamshire town is the perfect destination for anybody interested in arts and crafts. The Christmas market takes places at the Harley Workshops, and features the work of countless local artists and artisans. The stalls on offer here sell everything from handmade jewellery, to ceramics and wood carvings. In addition to market stalls, visitors will also be able to enjoy a wide range of traditional, seasonal treats – roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and carol singers are all regular features at the Welbeck Christmas market!

3. Edinburgh

Last but by no means least, the Scottish capital of Edinburgh is a terrific place to hunt for a bargain, as well as boasting a truly magical atmosphere. If you’re looking for cobbled streets and sprawling Christmas markets, then check in to one of the Princes Street hotels Edinburgh. From here you’ll be within easy reach of the winding alleys of the Old Town, which fill up each Christmas with fairground rides, an ice rink and a German Christmas market!
