Blair Drummond Safari Park

One of the most popular attractions of Scotland is the Blair Drummond Safari Park, to which I have had the pleasure of visiting last year. Although our Hotel Dunkeld was located a little further away from this attraction, we felt that it was necessary to expose our children to this very unique feature of Scotland. It is very reasonably priced and has attractions that will entertain any age.

Located less than an hour's drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh, if you should find yourself on the M9 motorway, take the number 10 junction. Once you have done this, the park is well signed to guide you with ease to its entrance. Open all year round, the park is enjoyable for everyone, weather pending. Like many of the parks in Scotland, you are able to drive around a good portion of it. This was a wonderful aspect of the Blair Drummond Safari Park, if you consider the amount of land that it covers. Eventually, you are required to get out of your vehicle to enjoy the animals of the park. The reason for this is obvious, as many of the animals that call the park home are quite small. To avoid accidentally running into one of them, guests are required to walk the remainder of the park. This area is not as large as the driving portion, so don't worry.

In all, the Blair Drummond Safari Park was one of the best attractions of Scotland. Both my husband and I, as well as our two children, enjoyed our time in the park very much. I would strongly encourage anyone that is staying in Scotland, whether you are in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or even a Dunblane hotel, to make the journey to the park. You just never know what kind of animals you will run into there.
