Austria is a European nation steeped in a rich cultural history that is evident throughout its cities and countryside. It used to be part of the all-conquering Austro-Hungarian Empire until as recently as towards the end of the nineteenth century and consequently there is evidence everywhere of its glorious past such as the stunning architecture, especially in the capital city of Vienna. Aforementioned architecture means that if, like me, you are a bit of a fan of luxury hotels Vienna will provide you with a plethora of options with regards to indulging your taste for opulence. There are also a wide range of hotels in Vienna to suit any budget, so whether you’ve got loads of dough you’re looking to blow or you’re traveling on a bit of a shoe-string budget, you’ll still have no trouble finding a room somewhere.

While it is never advisable to make generalizations about people and places, there are certain things that one is allowed to say. In Germany, one of the best things about the country is probably a little underappreciated in general, but which is so important to anyone who goes there: breakfast.

The Best Cafes in Shrewsbury
A recent study by EPIC (the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) showed the Northern Europeans are much more likely to consume meals out of the home than Southern Europeans. Of those meals, or times spent ‘eating out’, 47.7% of this activity was spent consuming coffee, teas, and waters alone. Given this information, it is no wonder that cafe culture has grown by leaps and bounds in the last decade. In this case, the competition is stiff in most places for running an exceptional establishment and producing a quality product. Therefore, when visiting places in the UK, it makes sense that trying out a variety of cafes in the town or city one is visiting is an excellent way to experience the best the city. For instance, when staying at one of the many hotels Shrewsbury town centre has to offer, one should visit at least on the following establishments.

Blair Drummond Safari Park
One of the most popular attractions of Scotland is the Blair Drummond Safari Park, to which I have had the pleasure of visiting last year. Although our Hotel Dunkeld was located a little further away from this attraction, we felt that it was necessary to expose our children to this very unique feature of Scotland. It is very reasonably priced and has attractions that will entertain any age.

Celebration of Life
A funeral is never an occasion that one looks forward to. There are so many preparations to be made during such a sad time, that it is a wonder that anything gets accomplished at all. I, like so many others, have had my share of funerals during my life.

Twitching in Corby
Birding (or bird watching as it is more commonly called) is not always a tranquil activity. Sometimes it can be a hectic chase. A reported sighting of a spoon-billed sandpiper, for example, will compel many birders to drop everything to pick up the pursuit. They are often willing to travel hundreds of miles to see a rare bird. This activity, called twitching, can get extremely competitive as birders try to check species off their list.
